Description: February 4th is observed globally as World Cancer Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about cancer and encouraging its prevention, detection, and treatment. St. Karen's High School actively engages in addressing social concerns, and to mark this occasion, the school collaborated with AIIMS Patna to organize a series of meaningful activities. An Essay Writing Competition was conducted on the topic “The Impact of Cancer on Individuals and Their Families.” Students from Classes 6 to 9 participated, expressing their thoughts on the profound effects of cancer on patients, their families, and society at large. The competition aimed to emphasize that cancer is curable and to encourage awareness about early detection and treatment. A Rangoli Making Competition was also organized, where students artistically depicted the impact of cancer on society. Through their creative expressions, they highlighted the importance of awareness and collective responsibility in the fight against cancer. In addition to these competitions, an awareness session on Breast Cancer was conducted exclusively for female students. Medical professionals from AIIMS Patna trained them on Breast Self-Examination (BSE), incorporating a video demonstration and an interactive segment for addressing queries. The session reinforced the importance of early detection and self-care in maintaining good health. A separate session for boys focused on Cancer Awareness and Drug Addiction. This session educated students on the detrimental physical, mental, financial, and emotional consequences of drug abuse. The discussion also stressed that cancer is curable if detected in its early stages, encouraging proactive health measures. St. Karen's High School remains committed to fostering awareness and encouraging students to be responsible individuals who contribute positively to society.
