On May 18th, the Biology division of class 12th, St. Karen's High School got to see the functioning of one of the biggest hospitals in Patna. They got an inside view of PARAS HMRI hospital. They got a close view of different wards and interacted with specialists of various departments. Moreover, they got the opportunity to hear from Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai, Director and Surgeon, PARAS HMRI Hospital, Patna.
The students were first shown a short film to introduce them to the history of the hospital and its facilities. The students were accompanied by Dr. Alok and Mr.
Vinod Kumar Sr. Executive PARAS HMRI, who took them on a tour of some sophisticated equipment and labs, the students were briefed about the Cath labs, function of cells and disorders in the contact inhibition mechanism which causes tumor .
Dr. Anil Kumar Singh - a well known senior endocrinologist in the hospital also guided the students.
The students interacted with Dr. Alok on various topics like Cancer, tumours and there was an intellectual exchange of questions regarding different types of diseases.
Dr. Hai, in his interactive session motivated the students and urged them to work truly towards their passion, i.e. Medical Science. He also stressed on the fact that “Nothing is static…but changes are” We can't control things but all we can do is to make them better ahead. He told the students to be patient and dedicated towards their work.
This was a rewarding experience for the students and it kindled the fire within them to take up medicine.
