Description: To lead and expand India’s Glorious Heritage and culture, Spic Macay East zone convention was organised in DPS Patna on 1st and 2nd Feb 2020.The aim of the programme was to promote Indian classical music, dance, folk music, yoga, meditation and other aspects of Indian Culture. The two-day programme commenced at 10.30 am, with the orientation session followed by a Kuchipudi performance by Smt. Madhuri Majumdar. The learning and inspiration inherent in our cultural heritage and art was transmitted to the young minds through interactions with great artists, artisans, thinkers and poets. A lecture demonstration by Shri Prabuddha Biswas on the topic “Know and Love your heritage” was conducted. Indian Folk and craft is full of variation and multiplicity in terms of theme form and style. Workshops for different art works like, Gond Painting, Saraikela Mask, Cherial Folk painting and Pottery were conducted. The students enjoyed learning the different styles and gave impressive presentations of the art forms. The first day programme culminated with a classical vocal music concert by Vidushi Shruti Sadolikar Katkar. The students were made to stay in the campus to give them a period of time, away from their hum- drum normal routine and to experience living focused on simplicity. The second day programme started with an early wakeup call at 3.50 am. A yoga session was conducted for all the students and teachers. The session was conducted by authentic yogacharyas with the goal to provide balanced development of the physical, mental and spiritual well-being. The students shared their experiences and a Hindustani Vocal Concert was given by Smt. Ruchira Kale Kedar. The students and mentor, Sudanshu shekar- XII A, Rajat- X K, Utpal -X K and Vaibhav- IX A and Mrs Rakhi Verma were highly inspired and proudly shared their experiences with all the students.
