An educational trip was organised for the students of class XII. Learners pursuing Biology were given the opportunity to visit Mahavir Cancer Sansthan on 2nd of December. The students were guided by the eminent scientists, Dr. Ashok Kumar and Dr. Arun Kumar on the causes, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Dr. Ghosh who is also the chairman of Bihar Pollution control Board, elaborated the lifestyle flaws that push us to be trapped by deadly diseases. He made the visitors aware of pollution caused by the use of plastic and advised them to take it off practise, to decrease the count of cancer cases. Furthermore, a brief timeline was also dedicated for the discussion of social alienation of the present generation. Dr. Ashok illuminated the listeners with ways to increase interactions with mother nature. The students were also introduced to specific solutions pertaining to career choices.
Dr. Arun also enlightened the research mindset in the students. He elaborated the scope of research work in cancer and its diagnosis. The enthusiastic learners were introduced to the modern day equipments used in medical diagnosis. The working mechanism behind Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, PCR, ELISA, LFT etc was also explained. The trip concluded with a small visit to the Paediatric ward of cancer patients. The students presented the gifts and soft toys to the children in the ward. It was an inspiration for all the students to drift toward a positive transition.
