Today a workshop on “OZONE DEPLETION “ was organised at St. Karen’s High School by the state Pollution Control Board.
A renowned scientist Mr. Nalini Mohan Singh conducted the workshop to create an awareness about the “Ozone Depletion” among the students of the school. He spoke about how CFCs (chloro-fluoro carbon),halons etc are causing a damage to the ozone layer. The harmful effects of the “Ozone Depletion “ were also elaborated for e.g. -how UV-B &C radiation are causing eye defects & skin cancer. He suggested that now its high time we must minimise the use of CFCs; Aerosols , AC’s. The session was very informative. Some students put forward their queries which were answered by Mr. Nalini Mohan Singh.
Vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Preeti Singh who requested everybody to take a resolution to save the ozone layer so that we are safe from its harmful effects.
